Military Neutralizes Armed Criminal in Benue, Arrest Suspected Gunrunner in Nasarawa
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have neutralized an armed criminal during an ambush operation in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State and arrested another suspect in Nasarawa State.
According to a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, the operation was conducted east of Ayilamo in Tombo Council Ward, Logo LGA, where troops engaged the criminals in a gun battle.
During the encounter, one of the armed elements was neutralized, while others fled with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 14 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the scene.
Following the operation, the troops maintained a strong presence in the area and intensified patrols to reassure residents and strengthen public confidence.

In a related development, troops of Sub-Sector 2 deployed at Maraba Udege Community in Nasarawa Local Government Area arrested a suspect found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol.
The suspect, identified as Mr. Ramanu Elizabeth, was apprehended at Maraba Market after troops responded to a distress call from community members. The suspect and the recovered weapon are currently in custody for further investigation.
The Force Commander, Operation Whirl Stroke, Maj.-Gen. Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism, discipline, and tactical efficiency during the operations.
He urged them to sustain the momentum in their efforts to create a secure environment for law-abiding citizens, emphasizing the commitment of OPWS to protecting lives, dismantling criminal networks, and restoring peace and stability across the joint operations area.
