The Senate yesterday at plenary considers the report of the Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions on the screening of Okwu Joseph Nnanna for appointment as a deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and approve the recommendation.

The Senate also received correspondence from the President and Commander in Chief, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the confirmation of the appointment of Abdullahi Shinkafi from Zamfara State as a member of the Federal Character Commission.

Three reports were either referred to the next legislative day or to relevant Committee for further legislative actions. They are the report of the joint Committee on Finance and National Planning, Economic Affairs and Poverty Alleviation on the 2012- 2017 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF and Fiscal Strategy Paper FSP.

The others are the report of the conference committee on the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund Act and the report of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development on the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science Amendment bill 2015.
