Niger State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has assured individual and corporate bodies intending to invest in the state and the host communities of equity and fairness.
He gave this assurance in Minna the state capital during a stakeholders peace meeting with the village heads and youth leaders of host communities of Sunti Golden Sugar Company, situated in Sunti, Mokwa Local Government Area of the state.
The governor who spoke through the deputy governor, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Ketso said due to the economic potentials and viability of the state many investors have shown interest in investing in the state, a development which led to the establishment of the multi-billion Naira Sugar factor in Sunti Village.
He noted that the state cannot afford to miss the investment opportunities avail it by the investors adding that the benefits accurable to the hosting communities, the state and the investors are immense.
Hence he advised host communities of these investments to maintain cordial relationship with the investors and government.
Gov. Sani Bello frowned at the high level of youth restiveness in Sunti Village, describing their action as ill advice and warned that if such conflicts are left unchecked may lead to possible relocation of the company with attendant consequences of huge loss.
According to the governor, “government will take decisive action against any person who threatened to cause problem in the area” and advised elders of the communities to to call their youth to order and ensure they are well behaved.
The governor then admonished investors to equally be mindful of their social responsibility to their host communities while he assured them of government resolve to provide adequate security and condusive economic environment for their investment to thrive.
The leaders of the communities who took turn to speak commended the proactive step of Governor Sani Bello in resolving the crisis and pledged to work for the success of the project.
